Current Trends in Assistive Technology and Apps for Users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Program Summary

Technology is an ever-changing landscape, one that can be difficult to keep up with. In this session, the presenter will showcase current assistive technologies and apps for overcoming challenges associated with varying degrees of hearing loss. As an individual who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or someone who engages with this population in a personal or professional capacity, you will learn about new features, listening device models, tools and tips, and upcoming technologies for staying ahead in the classroom, workplace, and everyday life.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe at least three different apps that assist with everyday communication for users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  2. Describe at least two assisstive technology devices that can be used in a group setting by users who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
